And we’re back!
My goal with this blog is simple: to introduce you to artists and bands whose work, in my humble opinion, is absolutely worth your time. The links I provide are just starting points—I hope you’ll be inspired to dive deeper and explore their full discographies.
One band I return to again and again is Stars. This Montreal-based group crafts infectious and deeply charming indie pop, weaving narratives of tortured lovers, missed connections, and fleeting romance. Their music is unmistakable—cleverly written, rich in emotion, and often theatrical or cinematic in production. Every song feels like a scene from a beautifully tragic film.
If you like bands like the New Pornographers, Death Cab for Cutie, or The National, I think you will be pleased.
Beyond their recorded brilliance, Stars are one of the best live bands I’ve ever experienced. They have an uncanny ability to forge an electric connection with their audience, turning every show into something unforgettable. The energy, the intimacy, the sheer passion—it’s a performance you don’t just watch; you feel it. Whenever they tour, we make sure to be there.
With so many standout songs to choose from, here are a few to get you started. Let me know what you think—and if you find yourself falling down the Stars rabbit hole, welcome to the club. If you want to listen to one album, it should be Set Yourself on Fire.

Looking for a great read? I highly recommend “You are Here” by David Nicholls. It’s a story about two people falling in love as they do a coast-to-coast hike in the UK. An absolute joy to read and laugh out loud funny.

Definitely fun discovering new music, thanks! I'm a fan of The National, and yes am liking Stars!
My first Stars songs were Write What You Know and Toxic Holiday. No idea where I heard them for the first time, but it was definitely love at first listen.
